Synopsis:

Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world... and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself.

My rating: ★★★★★

I love these types of books! Suspense, thriller, mystery, plus a little romance ;) Perfect!

Violet, as the title suggests, has the ability to find bodies...dead ones of course. How? Its kind of hard to explain, but she calls them echos. Its an imprint carried by the dead body, and the killer (if there is one) carries that same imprint.

So there's this killer on a killing spree...super scary (especially since the book takes place in WA and I live in WA O_O) Now Violent is the only chance they have on catching this killer.

But not only is she struggling with her special ability and this killer on the loose, she has also developed new feelings for her best friend Jay (they've been best friends since elementary school).

So here we have Violet who is trying to catch a killer and not realizing that she has put herself in danger by becoming the predators prey, while her best friend turned boyfriend (makes me want to have a Jay of my own *sigh* :P) and her parents and uncle (who happens to be a cop) are desperately trying to protect her.

I tried to explain it as best I could, but I probably failed, lol. So this is all I have left to say...it was awesome!! It didn't disappoint me whatsoever :)

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a comment! :)

  1. I have a copy of this book and had it put off since it's a series but I'm also trying to read a different book that takes place in different states and WA is one of them so thanks. I love thriller and mystery books but don't know how I like about romance. Since she knows the character seems fine it's just bother me when the main character meets a mystery guy and he also may be the killer puts me off. Supernatural abilities is a plus for me can't wait to read it. Thanks!

    1. Oh it so good! Definitely get around to it whenever you can! I actually have not finished this series yet. I still need to read the last two books! Oh and in book two she does meet a mystery guy who may or may not turn into another love interest... so there's that, unfortunately.
